Access Health CT Joins National “Get Covered 2021” Initiative

Campaign Encourages Residents to Connect with Their State Health Insurance Exchanges

HARTFORD, Conn. (December 9, 2020) —  Access Health CT (AHCT) has joined a new initiative called “Get Covered 2021” — a coalition of states including California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, and other national organizations that have come together to promote the 2021 open enrollment period in healthcare coverage. Connecticut residents can enroll or renew their health insurance plan with the state’s marketplace until December 15, 2020, for coverage starting on January 1, 2021.

On December 10, Access Health CT will participate in “Get Covered America Day” – to help raise awareness and action for Connecticut residents to obtain health insurance. The goal of GetCovered2021.org on December 10 is to drive enrollment nationwide, bring attention to wearing a mask and to spread the message across social media platforms by encouraging posts of picture or selfie that includes a personal message about why having insurance matters using the hashtags #GetCoveredCT and #GetCovered2021.

“The ‘Get Covered America Day’ brings attention to making our health a top priority during one of the most trying years on record with the COVID-19 pandemic,” Governor Ned Lamont said. “I urge all Connecticut residents who currently do not have health insurance to seek affordable, quality coverage options with our state’s marketplace, Access Health CT.”

“We’re thrilled to join the ‘Get Covered 2021’ national initiative,” said Chief Executive Officer of Access Health CT, James Michel. “If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that taking care of our health is paramount. And as many have lost their health insurance due to job loss, we want to let Connecticut residents know that through Access Health, CT over 90% of people qualify for financial help, low-cost or free coverage that can give you peace of mind if you get sick or injured.”
