Access Health CT Announces Interim Leadership Team During Search for Chief Executive Officer

HARTFORD, Conn. (March 20, 2018) – Access Health CT today announced that an interim leadership team will take the helm of the state’s health insurance exchange on April 6, when Jim Wadleigh will step down after serving three years as CEO. The new team will be comprised of Chief Operating Officer Shan Jeffreys, Director of Finance James Michel and Director of Human Resources Melinda Brayton.

Lt. Governor Wyman, Chair of the Board of Access Health CT, said, “I want to thank Shan, James, and Melinda for stepping forward and assuming leadership of Access Health CT during the search for a permanent CEO. Jim Wadleigh leaves a strong legacy and commitment to outreach—and that will continue with this new leadership team. Our first priority is the health of Connecticut residents; that is unchanged.”

Chief Operating Officer Shan Jeffreys said, “I will continue to support the staff and my colleagues to ensure another successful year leading to Open Enrollment. Jim built trust and leadership throughout the team, which has positioned us to succeed in this new model. During this transition, we will continue to put our customers first in everything we do and will work hard to achieve our mission – to help our customers lead healthier lives.”

Director of Finance James Michel said, “As Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman said, Access Health CT will continue to make its customers, all residents of Connecticut, its first priority. Access Health CT’s leadership team will also continue to ensure its great employees have the tools and training necessary to continue the delivery of excellent customer service to its customers. I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the Lt. Governor and the Board of Directors for this unique opportunity to serve the people of Connecticut.”

Director of Human Resources Melinda Brayton said, “I look forward to continuing to work as a team with James and Shan. Jim has prepared us well to continue Access Health CT’s operations. With our outstanding staff we will continue to serve our customers in the best way possible.”

The Board of Directors will be conducting a search to fill the role of a permanent Chief Executive Officer.
