Access Health CT Announces Launch Of 2023 Broker Academy
HARTFORD, Conn. (Feb. 27, 2023) — Access Health CT (AHCT) today announced that applications are now open for the 2023 Broker Academy Program. Click here for the application.
The Broker Academy, now in its second year, creates a pathway to license health insurance brokers by recruiting from, and building the skillsets of, those who live and work in historically underserved communities throughout Connecticut. The Program was created as part of AHCT’s mission-driven approach to reduce health disparities and drive change within underserved communities.
The Program is open to all Connecticut residents. Applicants must be 18 years or older, hold a high school diploma or GED, have 1-3 letters of recommendation and have community service experience. Preference will be given to applicants who reside or work in underserved areas.
Accepted Broker Academy candidates will receive free training, a five-month apprenticeship with an experienced broker, professional development and program support. Weekly training sessions for program readiness will be held in May and in-person classes begin June 5.
“We encourage anyone who is interested in a career in this growing field to apply,” said Access Health CT Chief Executive Officer James Michel. “We are looking for driven candidates who are eager to build relationships within under-insured communities in the state, with people who need better access to trusted brokers and resources.”
AHCT is hosting free virtual Broker Academy information sessions. The remaining sessions will take place March 7 and March 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. To register, click here.
